Here are the information literacy basics for second semester students taking the 199 Research Based Writing Course.

Research Based Writing 199 Library Instruction Outcomes

  1. Students will identify the differences between scholarly, popular, and trade publications in order to select the proper resources for their research.
  2. Students will recognize the concept terms within their research statement in order to more effectively search library databases.
  3. Students will brainstorm for keywords and synonyms related to their topic in order to find a variety of research articles on their topic.
  4. Students will utilize available database searching strategies in order to focus and expand their search.
  5. Students will bring together all these new skills by using a library database to find good quality articles for their research.
